Summer Intensives

Awarded “Outstanding School” at the Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP) New York City finals, Next Generation Ballet (NGB), directed by Philip Neal is a stepping stone for great talent. Our outstanding school faculty will be joined by guest teachers in offering excellent individualized instruction and coaching.

2025 Summer Intensive Dates:
5-Week intensive: JUN 16 - JUL 18
3-Week Intensive: JUN 30 - JUL 18
2-Week Intensive: JUN 16-28

Next Generation Ballet (NGB) is part of the David A. Straz, Jr. Center for the Performing Arts in Tampa, Florida- one of the largest performing arts centers in the United States.

The NGB Summer Intensive offers 30 to 35 hours of weekly instruction, combining a rigorous dance schedule with a structured, safe environment and the opportunity to perform on a world-class stage. The program also includes weekly activities such as educational seminars, movie nights and Sunday excursions to theme parks.

Students receive personalized attention, accommodation in a dormitory within walking distance and a comprehensive meal plan. Advanced students may audition for the prestigious NGB Trainee Program.

Ballet West Academy will join Next Generation Ballet as a special affiliate. Ballet West will be managing the housing aspect of the program.

Class Offerings

Students take classes in beautiful, spacious studios with sprung floors at the Patel Conservatory, our home facility, and nearby sister campuses, conveniently located to the Conservatory.

Summer Intensive Audition Requirements:

  • Provide a headshot and a first arabesque photo.
  • Must be at least 11 years old; Boarding students must be 12 years old by June 15, 2025.
  • Must have a minimum of 1 year of pointe experience by June 15, 2025.

Auditions

All dancers must pre-register for an audition. No walk-ups will be permitted.

Audition fee is $40.

Video audition fee is $50.

If you are unable to attend an NGB Summer Intensive audition in person, we also accept video auditions. The fee for a video audition is $50. Video auditions may be submitted through Acceptd:  https://app.getacceptd.com/nextgenerationballet

You will receive confirmation once the video is being reviewed. Results will be sent within two weeks of submission. In addition to the video link, please also include the audition form, a headshot and a photo in first arabesque.

Video Audition Requirements (pick one):
1. Studio Class Video: in practice clothes; include center adagio, turns, small and large jumps, girls on pointe - no variation required (max. 5 min).

2. YAGP Classical Variation: may be in costume and on stage.

AUDITION FAQ'S
What can I expect during the audition?
  • The audition is scheduled for two hours. The first 30 minutes are designated for check-in and number distribution. Following that, there will be a 90-minute ballet class consisting of barre and center exercises on flat, with pointe work included (if applicable).
Who will adjudicate my audition?
  • Auditions are taught and adjudicated by NGB staff and guest faculty affiliated with the summer intensive.
What should I wear to the audition?
  • Female: A simple, solid-colored leotard, pink or flesh-toned tights, and matching ballet shoes (pink or flesh-toned).
  • Male: A fitted white shirt, black, white, or gray tights, and ballet shoes in white or black.
How will I be notified of my audition results?
  • In-person auditions: Results will be sent within two weeks of the audition.
  • Video auditions: Results will be emailed within four weeks of submission.
